CAS and Eduserv Collaborate to Provide Unlimited SciFinder® Access to Academic Institutions Across the U.K. & Ireland

October  21, 2011 -

Researchers at more than 47 academic institutions in the U.K. & Ireland will benefit from the world's best chemical information research tool

Columbus, Ohio (October 21, 2011) - Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), the world's authority for chemical information, today announced an agreement to provide unlimited SciFinder access to the CHEST Consortium  which comprises more than 47 academic institutions in the U.K. & Ireland, including the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge and University of Manchester.

Under the unlimited SciFinder access agreement, current students and faculty from all departments at these institutions will have access to SciFinder and the CAS databases, the largest, most accurate and complete collection of disclosed chemistry and related scientific research.

"Expanding our relationship with CAS ensures that SciFinder is affordable and accessible to all students and academic staff across varied university disciplines and organizations.  Because of the world class information scope and timeliness, unlimited SciFinder Access is expected to materially increase scientific research productivity and accelerate innovation in the U.K. & Ireland," said Hilary Singleton, Commercial Director at Eduserv, a not-for-profit organization with more than 20 year experience securing affordable license agreements for universities and colleges in the U.K. and Ireland.

SciFinder is the preferred source of chemical information for scientists around the globe.  With unlimited access, SciFinder is available to researchers in chemistry departments, as well as those in other science departments throughout a university, including biochemistry, biology and related biosciences, pharmacy and pharmacology, forensics, physics, medical and dental, biomedical engineering and material science.  Whether writing grant proposals or journal articles or designing their next experiments, researchers benefit from having the world's leading research and discovery tool at their fingertips.

"We are excited to continue our support of the valuable research efforts at these esteemed academic institutions", said Paul Peters, CAS' senior representative in Europe. "With unlimited SciFinder access, all student and faculty researchers at academic institutions across the U.K. and Ireland will have on-demand access to tens of millions of peer-reviewed research papers, patents, reactions, and substances."
