Thousands of researchers and patent searchers in China rely on CAS products every day to access the highest quality chemistry and related information in the world

Columbus, Ohio (August 3, 2014) – Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), a division of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the world’s authority for chemical information, proudly announced today the addition of dedicated ACS International, Ltd. ACSI representatives around the world market and support products from the ACS Publications and CAS divisions, provide customer assistance and training activities, and facilitate Membership services.

The newly added staff in the ACSI Beijing office are initially focused on servicing CAS products and customer needs. Expanded support of activities within the broader Society, including ACS Publications and Membership, may follow.

“The ACS continues to invest in supporting the needs of chemists in China,” said Manuel Guzman, CAS president.  “Earlier this year, the Society opened the ACSI office within the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Chemistry. This location signifies ACS’s commitment to academia and the importance of advancements in research from Chinese scientists to the global chemical enterprise.”

Team members in the Beijing office under the leadership of Ms. Caroline Ma, Chief Representative, will ensure that CAS customers in China benefit from the world-class support and collaboration that is the hallmark of CAS. “I am delighted to join ACSI and be able to work with the prestigious and influential customers who rely on CAS for their research every day,” said Ma.

CAS has built strong relationships with organizations throughout China, and numerous companies, academic institutions, government organizations and contract research organizations benefit from access to SciFinder and STN to advance their research, pharmaceutical development and patenting activities, among others.  CAS has also long recognized China’s increasingly important role as a reputable source for chemical information, with research from China covered extensively in the CAS databases.

ACS, the largest scientific society in the world with more than 161,000 members, will further leverage this office to broaden the dissemination of its services and expand outreach initiatives within China going forward.  As a leading source of authoritative scientific information, ACS is at the forefront of the evolving worldwide chemical enterprise and is the premier professional home for chemists, chemical engineers and related professions around the globe.
