Magaret Sivapragasam (2017)


Magaret acquired her BSc (Hons) in biotechnology from the Asian Institute of Medicine, Science and Technology, Malaysia in 2008. During that period, she interned at the Veterinary Research Institute Malaysia where she joined a team to develop vaccines for the Newcastle Disease Virus. She then joined as a Ph.D. candidate at the Universiti Putra Malaysia where she worked on recombinant protein purification, focusing on chromatographic separations of protein molecules. Upon completing her Ph.D., she joined the Centre of Research in Ionic Liquids (CORIL) under the wing of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. Here, she focuses on ecotoxicological assessment of ionic liquids, biosurfactant binary mixtures as oil dispersants and microbial adaptation to ionic liquids.
