Chris Stavaas (2016)

Chris received his B.Sc. in 2012 and his M.Sc. in 2014 under the supervision of Professor Leiv K. Sydnes at the University of Bergen, Norway. As a Master student, he worked with syntheses towards analogs of heterocycles of marine origin. He is currently a second-year Ph.D. student in the same research group where he works on synthesizing analogs of the polyunsaturated anti-inflammatory marine natural product Protectin D1 in a joint effort with researchers at the University of Oslo. Chris is also exploring new methods for preparing substituted pyrroles using multicomponent copper catalysis.
